Devarim – Deuteronomy – Chapter 8

1 Every commandment that I command you this day you shall keep to do, that you may live and multiply, and come and possess the land that the Lord swore to your forefathers. אכָּל־הַמִּצְוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָֽנֹכִ֧י מְצַוְּךָ֛ הַיּ֖וֹם תִּשְׁמְר֣וּן לַֽעֲשׂ֑וֹת לְמַ֨עַן תִּֽחְי֜וּן וּרְבִיתֶ֗ם וּבָאתֶם֙ וִֽירִשְׁתֶּ֣ם אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּ֥ע יְהֹוָ֖ה לַֽאֲבֹֽתֵיכֶֽם:
2 And you shall remember the entire way on which the Lord, your God, led you these forty years in the desert, in order to afflict you to test you, to know what is in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. בוְזָֽכַרְתָּ֣ אֶת־כָּל־הַדֶּ֗רֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֨ר הוֹלִֽיכְךָ֜ יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ זֶ֛ה אַרְבָּעִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר לְמַ֨עַן עַנֹּֽתְךָ֜ לְנַסֹּֽתְךָ֗ לָדַ֜עַת אֶת־אֲשֶׁ֧ר בִּלְבָֽבְךָ֛ הֲתִשְׁמֹ֥ר מִצְו‍ֹתָ֖יו (כתיב מצותו) אִם־לֹֽא:
3 And He afflicted you and let you go hungry, and then fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your forefathers know, so that He would make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but rather by, whatever comes forth from the mouth of the Lord does man live. גוַיְעַנְּךָ֘ וַיַּרְעִבֶ֒ךָ֒ וַיַּֽאֲכִֽלְךָ֤ אֶת־הַמָּן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־יָדַ֔עְתָּ וְלֹ֥א יָֽדְע֖וּן אֲבֹתֶ֑יךָ לְמַ֣עַן הוֹדִֽיעֲךָ֗ כִּ֠י לֹ֣א עַל־הַלֶּ֤חֶם לְבַדּוֹ֙ יִֽחְיֶ֣ה הָֽאָדָ֔ם כִּ֛י עַל־כָּל־מוֹצָ֥א פִֽי־יְהֹוָ֖ה יִֽחְיֶ֥ה הָֽאָדָֽם:
4  Your clothing did not wear out upon you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. דשִׂמְלָ֨תְךָ֜ לֹ֤א בָֽלְתָה֙ מֵֽעָלֶ֔יךָ וְרַגְלְךָ֖ לֹ֣א בָצֵ֑קָה זֶ֖ה אַרְבָּעִ֥ים שָׁנָֽה:
5 You shall know in your heart, that just as a man chastises his son, so does the Lord, your God, chastise you. הוְיָֽדַעְתָּ֖ עִם־לְבָבֶ֑ךָ כִּ֗י כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֨ר יְיַסֵּ֥ר אִישׁ֙ אֶת־בְּנ֔וֹ יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ מְיַסְּרֶֽךָּ:
6 And you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to go in His ways, and to fear Him. ווְשָׁ֣מַרְתָּ֔ אֶת־מִצְוֹ֖ת יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ לָלֶ֥כֶת בִּדְרָכָ֖יו וּלְיִרְאָ֥ה אֹתֽוֹ:
7 For the Lord, your God is bringing you to a good land, a land with brooks of water, fountains, and depths, that emerge in valleys and mountains, זכִּ֚י יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ מְבִֽיאֲךָ֖ אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ טוֹבָ֑ה אֶ֚רֶץ נַ֣חֲלֵי מָ֔יִם עֲיָנֹת֙ וּתְהֹמֹ֔ת יֹֽצְאִ֥ים בַּבִּקְעָ֖ה וּבָהָֽר:
8 a land of wheat and barley, vines and figs and pomegranates, a land of oil producing olives and honey, חאֶ֤רֶץ חִטָּה֙ וּשְׂעֹרָ֔ה וְגֶ֥פֶן וּתְאֵנָ֖ה וְרִמּ֑וֹן אֶֽרֶץ־זֵ֥ית שֶׁ֖מֶן וּדְבָֽשׁ:
9 a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, you will lack nothing in it, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose mountains you will hew copper. טאֶ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹ֤א בְמִסְכֵּנֻת֙ תֹּֽאכַל־בָּ֣הּ לֶ֔חֶם לֹֽא־תֶחְסַ֥ר כֹּ֖ל בָּ֑הּ אֶ֚רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֲבָנֶ֣יהָ בַרְזֶ֔ל וּמֵֽהֲרָרֶ֖יהָ תַּחְצֹ֥ב נְחֽשֶׁת:
10 And you will eat and be sated, and you shall bless the Lord, your God, for the good land He has given you. יוְאָֽכַלְתָּ֖ וְשָׂבָ֑עְתָּ וּבֵֽרַכְתָּ֙ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ עַל־הָאָ֥רֶץ הַטֹּבָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָֽתַן־לָֽךְ:
11 Beware that you do not forget the Lord, your God, by not keeping His commandments, His ordinances, and His statutes, which I command you this day, יאהִשָּׁ֣מֶר לְךָ֔ פֶּן־תִּשְׁכַּ֖ח אֶת־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ לְבִלְתִּ֨י שְׁמֹ֤ר מִצְו‍ֹתָיו֙ וּמִשְׁפָּטָ֣יו וְחֻקֹּתָ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֛ר אָֽנֹכִ֥י מְצַוְּךָ֖ הַיּֽוֹם:
12 lest you eat and be sated, and build good houses and dwell therein, יבפֶּן־תֹּאכַ֖ל וְשָׂבָ֑עְתָּ וּבָתִּ֥ים טֹבִ֛ים תִּבְנֶ֖ה וְיָשָֽׁבְתָּ:
13 and your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and gold increase, and all that you have increases, יגוּבְקָֽרְךָ֤ וְצֹֽאנְךָ֙ יִרְבְּיֻ֔ן וְכֶ֥סֶף וְזָהָ֖ב יִרְבֶּה־לָּ֑ךְ וְכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־לְךָ֖ יִרְבֶּֽה:
14 and your heart grows haughty, and you forget the Lord, your God, Who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, ידוְרָ֖ם לְבָבֶ֑ךָ וְשָֽׁכַחְתָּ֙ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ הַמּוֹצִֽיאֲךָ֛ מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם מִבֵּ֥ית עֲבָדִֽים:
15 Who led you through that great and awesome desert, [in which were] snakes, vipers and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought water for you out of solid rock, טוהַמּוֹלִ֨יכְךָ֜ בַּמִּדְבָּ֣ר | הַגָּדֹ֣ל וְהַנּוֹרָ֗א נָחָ֤שׁ | שָׂרָף֙ וְעַקְרָ֔ב וְצִמָּא֖וֹן אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֵֽין־מָ֑יִם הַמּוֹצִ֤יא לְךָ֙ מַ֔יִם מִצּ֖וּר הַֽחַלָּמִֽישׁ:
16 Who fed you with manna in the desert, which your forefathers did not know, in order to afflict you and in order to test you, to benefit you in your end, טזהַמַּֽאֲכִ֨לְךָ֥ מָן֙ בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־יָֽדְע֖וּן אֲבֹתֶ֑יךָ לְמַ֣עַן עַנֹּֽתְךָ֗ וּלְמַ֨עַן֙ נַסֹּתֶ֔ךָ לְהֵיטִֽבְךָ֖ בְּאַֽחֲרִיתֶֽךָ:
17 and you will say to yourself, “My strength and the might of my hand that has accumulated this wealth for me.” יזוְאָֽמַרְתָּ֖ בִּלְבָבֶ֑ךָ כֹּחִי֙ וְעֹ֣צֶם יָדִ֔י עָ֥שָׂה לִ֖י אֶת־הַחַ֥יִל הַזֶּֽה:
18 But you must remember the Lord your God, for it is He that gives you strength to make wealth, in order to establish His covenant which He swore to your forefathers, as it is this day. יחוְזָֽכַרְתָּ֙ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ כִּ֣י ה֗וּא הַנֹּתֵ֥ן לְךָ֛ כֹּ֖חַ לַֽעֲשׂ֣וֹת חָ֑יִל לְמַ֨עַן הָקִ֧ים אֶת־בְּרִית֛וֹ אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּ֥ע לַֽאֲבֹתֶ֖יךָ כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה:
19 And it will be, if you forget the Lord your God and follow other gods, and worship them, and prostrate yourself before them, I bear witness against you this day, that you will surely perish. יטוְהָיָ֗ה אִם־שָׁכֹ֤חַ תִּשְׁכַּח֙ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ וְהָֽלַכְתָּ֗ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים וַֽעֲבַדְתָּ֖ם וְהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוִ֣יתָ לָהֶ֑ם הַֽעִדֹ֤תִי בָכֶם֙ הַיּ֔וֹם כִּ֥י אָבֹ֖ד תֹּֽאבֵדֽוּן:
20 As the nations that the Lord destroys before you, so will you perish; since you will not obey the Lord your God. ככַּגּוֹיִ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר יְהֹוָה֙ מַֽאֲבִ֣יד מִפְּנֵיכֶ֔ם כֵּ֖ן תֹּֽאבֵד֑וּן עֵ֚קֶב לֹ֣א תִשְׁמְע֔וּן בְּק֖וֹל יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶֽם:

Deuteronomio 8

(1) Cumplirás cada mandamiento que te  prescribo hoy para que vivas, que te multipliques y entres a conquistar la tierra que el Eterno juró dar a tus padres.

(2) Te acordarás de todo el camino que el Eterno te hizo seguir en estos cuarenta años en el desierto para ponerte aprueba, para saber qué había en tu corazón, o sea, si cumplirías Sus mandamientos o los desobedecerías.

(3) te afligió, te hizo sufrir hambre y te dio maná para comer, algo que ni tú, ni tus padres conocían, para hacerte saber que el hombre no vive sólo de pan sino de todo lo que sale de la boca del Eterno.

(4) Tu vestimenta no se pudrió sobre ti y tu pie no se hinchó en esos cuarenta años.

(5) También sabrás en tu corazón que, así como un hombre reprende a su hijo, el Eterno tu Dios te reprende a ti.

(6) Por lo tanto, has de guardar los mandatos del Eterno tu Dios para ir en Sus caminos y temerle.

(7) Ahora, el Eterno tu Dios te lleva a una tierra buena, una tierra de cursos de agua y manantiales que brotan de valles profundos y de montañas;

(8) tierra prodiga en trigo, cebada, viñas, higueras y granos; tierra de olivares, de aceites y de miel;

(9) tierra que te brinda pan sin escasez. Nada te faltará en esta tierra, en cuyas piedras hay hierro y de cuyas montañas podrás sacar cobre.

(10) Cuando hayas comido y te hayas saciado, bendecirás al Eterno tu Dios por la buena tierra que te dio.

(11) Ten sumo cuidado de no olvidar al Eterno tu Dios cumpliendo Sus leyes, Sus estatutos y Sus preceptos que hoy te ordeno guardar,

(12) no sea que, bien comido y saciado, con buenas casas edificadas,

(13) con abundancia de vacadas y de rebaños, con el incremento de plata, oro y otros bienes,

(14) se ensoberbezca tu corazón y olvides al Eterno tu Dios que te libro de la tierra de Egipto, la casa de servidumbre.

(15) Y te condujo por el desierto grande y terrible, plagado de víboras ardientes y escorpiones, un erial carente de agua, de donde empero, Él extrajo para ti agua de la roca dura,

(16) y te dio también maná para comer en el desierto, cosa que no conocieron tus padres a fin de humillarte y ponerte a prueba, para tu bien futuro,

(17) y para que no dijeras en tu corazón: “Por mi fortaleza y el poder de mi mano he logrado riqueza”,

(18) sino que te acordarás del Eterno tu Dios, pues Él es Quien te da él poder para ganar riquezas, conforme al pacto que estableció con tus padres.

(19) Y ocurriá que si te olvidas del Eterno tu Dios, para ir en pos de otros dioses, servirlos y prosternarte ante ellos, ten por seguro hoy que pereceréis.

(20) Como los pueblos que el Eterno hace morir ante vosotros, así pereceréis vosotros por haber desobedecido la voz del Eterno vuestro Dios.

1 When the Lord, your God, brings you into the land to which you are coming to possess it, He will cast away many nations from before you: the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivvites, and the Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and powerful than you. אכִּ֤י יְבִֽיאֲךָ֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ אֶל־הָאָ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־אַתָּ֥ה בָא־שָׁ֖מָּה לְרִשְׁתָּ֑הּ וְנָשַׁ֣ל גּוֹיִֽם־רַבִּ֣ים | מִפָּנֶ֡יךָ הַֽחִתִּי֩ וְהַגִּרְגָּשִׁ֨י וְהָֽאֱמֹרִ֜י וְהַכְּנַֽעֲנִ֣י וְהַפְּרִזִּ֗י וְהַֽחִוִּי֙ וְהַיְבוּסִ֔י שִׁבְעָ֣ה גוֹיִ֔ם רַבִּ֥ים וַֽעֲצוּמִ֖ים מִמֶּֽךָּ:
2 And the Lord, your God, will deliver them to you, and you shall smite them. You shall utterly destroy them; neither shall you make a covenant with them, nor be gracious to them. בוּנְתָנָ֞ם יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ לְפָנֶ֖יךָ וְהִכִּיתָ֑ם הַֽחֲרֵ֤ם תַּֽחֲרִים֙ אֹתָ֔ם לֹֽא־תִכְרֹ֥ת לָהֶ֛ם בְּרִ֖ית וְלֹ֥א תְחָנֵּֽם:
3 You shall not intermarry with them; you shall not give your daughter to his son, and you shall not take his daughter for your son. גוְלֹ֥א תִתְחַתֵּ֖ן בָּ֑ם בִּתְּךָ֙ לֹֽא־תִתֵּ֣ן לִבְנ֔וֹ וּבִתּ֖וֹ לֹֽא־תִקַּ֥ח לִבְנֶֽךָ:
4 For he will turn away your son from following Me, and they will worship the gods of others, and the wrath of the Lord will be kindled against you, and He will quickly destroy you. דכִּֽי־יָסִ֤יר אֶת־בִּנְךָ֙ מֵאַֽחֲרַ֔י וְעָֽבְד֖וּ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֑ים וְחָרָ֤ה אַף־יְהֹוָה֙ בָּכֶ֔ם וְהִשְׁמִֽידְךָ֖ מַהֵֽר:
5 But so shall you do to them: You shall demolish their altars and smash their monuments, and cut down their asherim trees, and burn their graven images with fire. הכִּ֣י אִם־כֹּ֤ה תַֽעֲשׂוּ֙ לָהֶ֔ם מִזְבְּחֹֽתֵיהֶ֣ם תִּתֹּ֔צוּ וּמַצֵּֽבֹתָ֖ם תְּשַׁבֵּ֑רוּ וַֽאֲשֵֽׁירֵהֶם֙ תְּגַדֵּע֔וּן וּפְסִֽילֵיהֶ֖ם תִּשְׂרְפ֥וּן בָּאֵֽשׁ:
6 For you are a holy people to the Lord, your God: the Lord your God has chosen you to be His treasured people, out of all the peoples upon the face of the earth. וכִּ֣י עַ֤ם קָדוֹשׁ֙ אַתָּ֔ה לַֽיהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ בְּךָ֞ בָּחַ֣ר | יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ לִֽהְי֥וֹת לוֹ֙ לְעַ֣ם סְגֻלָּ֔ה מִכֹּל֙ הָֽעַמִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הָֽאֲדָמָֽה:
7 Not because you are more numerous than any people did the Lord delight in you and choose you, for you are the least of all the peoples. זלֹ֣א מֵֽרֻבְּכֶ֞ם מִכָּל־הָֽעַמִּ֗ים חָשַׁ֧ק יְהֹוָ֛ה בָּכֶ֖ם וַיִּבְחַ֣ר בָּכֶ֑ם כִּֽי־אַתֶּ֥ם הַמְעַ֖ט מִכָּל־הָֽעַמִּֽים:
8 But because of the Lord’s love for you, and because He keeps the oath He swore to your forefathers, the Lord took you out with a strong hand and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. חכִּי֩ מֵאַֽהֲבַ֨ת יְהֹוָ֜ה אֶתְכֶ֗ם וּמִשָּׁמְר֤וֹ אֶת־הַשְּׁבֻעָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר נִשְׁבַּע֙ לַֽאֲבֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם הוֹצִ֧יא יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶתְכֶ֖ם בְּיָ֣ד חֲזָקָ֑ה וַיִּפְדְּךָ֙ מִבֵּ֣ית עֲבָדִ֔ים מִיַּ֖ד פַּרְעֹ֥ה מֶֽלֶךְ־מִצְרָֽיִם:
9 Know, therefore, that the Lord, your God He is God, the faithful God, Who keeps the covenant and loving kindness with those who love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations. טוְיָ֣דַעְתָּ֔ כִּֽי־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ ה֣וּא הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים הָאֵל֙ הַנֶּֽאֱמָ֔ן שֹׁמֵ֧ר הַבְּרִ֣ית וְהַחֶ֗סֶד לְאֹֽהֲבָ֛יו וּלְשֹֽׁמְרֵ֥י מִצְו‍ֹתָ֖יו (כתיב מצותו) לְאֶ֥לֶף דּֽוֹר:
10 And He repays those who hate Him, to their face, to cause them to perish; He will not delay the one who hates Him, but he will repay him to his face. יוּמְשַׁלֵּ֧ם לְשֽׂנְאָ֛יו אֶל־פָּנָ֖יו לְהַֽאֲבִיד֑וֹ לֹ֤א יְאַחֵר֙ לְשׂ֣נְא֔וֹ אֶל־פָּנָ֖יו יְשַׁלֶּם־לֽוֹ:
11 You shall, therefore, observe the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances, which I command you this day to do. יאוְשָֽׁמַרְתָּ֨ אֶת־הַמִּצְוָ֜ה וְאֶת־הַֽחֻקִּ֣ים וְאֶת־הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָֽנֹכִ֧י מְצַוְּךָ֛ הַיּ֖וֹם לַֽעֲשׂתָֽם:
12 And it will be because you will heed these ordinances and keep them and perform, that the Lord, your God, will keep for you the covenant and the kindness that He swore to your forefathers. יבוְהָיָ֣ה | עֵ֣קֶב תִּשְׁמְע֗וּן אֵ֤ת הַמִּשְׁפָּטִים֙ הָאֵ֔לֶּה וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֥ם וַֽעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם אֹתָ֑ם וְשָׁמַר֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ לְךָ֗ אֶת־הַבְּרִית֙ וְאֶת־הַחֶ֔סֶד אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִשְׁבַּ֖ע לַֽאֲבֹתֶֽיךָ:
13 And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your soil, your grain, your wine, and your oil, the offspring of your cattle and the choice of your flocks, in the land which He swore to your forefathers to give you. יגוַֽאֲהֵ֣בְךָ֔ וּבֵֽרַכְךָ֖ וְהִרְבֶּ֑ךָ וּבֵרַ֣ךְ פְּרִי־בִטְנְךָ֣ וּפְרִֽי־אַדְמָתֶ֠ךָ דְּגָ֨נְךָ֜ וְתִירשְׁךָ֣ וְיִצְהָרֶ֗ךָ שְׁגַר־אֲלָפֶ֨יךָ֙ וְעַשְׁתְּרֹ֣ת צֹאנֶ֔ךָ עַ֚ל הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּ֥ע לַֽאֲבֹתֶ֖יךָ לָ֥תֶת לָֽךְ:
14 You shall be blessed above all peoples: There will be no sterile male or barren female among you or among your livestock. ידבָּר֥וּךְ תִּֽהְיֶ֖ה מִכָּל־הָֽעַמִּ֑ים לֹא־יִֽהְיֶ֥ה בְךָ֛ עָקָ֥ר וַֽעֲקָרָ֖ה וּבִבְהֶמְתֶּֽךָ:
15 And the Lord will remove from you all illness, and all of the evil diseases of Egypt which you knew, He will not set upon you, but He will lay them upon all your enemies. טווְהֵסִ֧יר יְהֹוָ֛ה מִמְּךָ֖ כָּל־חֹ֑לִי וְכָל־מַדְוֵי֩ מִצְרַ֨יִם הָֽרָעִ֜ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָדַ֗עְתָּ לֹ֤א יְשִׂימָם֙ בָּ֔ךְ וּנְתָנָ֖ם בְּכָל־שֽׂנְאֶֽיךָ:
16 And you shall consume all the peoples which the Lord your God gives you; you shall not spare them, nor shall you worship their gods, for that will be a snare for you. טזוְאָֽכַלְתָּ֣ אֶת־כָּל־הָֽעַמִּ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ֙ נֹתֵ֣ן לָ֔ךְ לֹֽא־תָח֥וֹס עֵֽינְךָ֖ עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וְלֹ֤א תַֽעֲבֹד֙ אֶת־אֱלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם כִּֽי־מוֹקֵ֥שׁ ה֖וּא לָֽךְ:
17 Will you say to yourself, “These nations are more numerous than I; how will I be able to drive them out”? יזכִּ֤י תֹאמַר֙ בִּלְבָ֣בְךָ֔ רַבִּ֛ים הַגּוֹיִ֥ם הָאֵ֖לֶּה מִמֶּ֑נִּי אֵיכָ֥ה אוּכַ֖ל לְהֽוֹרִישָֽׁם:
18 You shall not fear them. You shall surely remember what the Lord, your God, did to Pharaoh and to all of Egypt: יחלֹ֥א תִירָ֖א מֵהֶ֑ם זָכֹ֣ר תִּזְכֹּ֗ר אֵ֤ת אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂה֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ לְפַרְעֹ֖ה וּלְכָל־מִצְרָֽיִם:
19 The great trials that your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm with which the Lord, your God, brought you out. So will the Lord, Your God, do to all the peoples you fear. יטהַמַּסֹּ֨ת הַגְּדֹלֹ֜ת אֲשֶׁר־רָא֣וּ עֵינֶ֗יךָ וְהָֽאֹתֹ֤ת וְהַמֹּֽפְתִים֙ וְהַיָּ֤ד הַֽחֲזָקָה֙ וְהַזְּרֹ֣עַ הַנְּטוּיָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר הוֹצִֽאֲךָ֖ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ כֵּֽן־יַֽעֲשֶׂ֞ה יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ֙ לְכָל־הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־אַתָּ֥ה יָרֵ֖א מִפְּנֵיהֶֽם:
20 And also the tzir’ah, the Lord, your God, will incite against them, until the survivors and those who hide from you perish. כוְגַם֙ אֶת־הַצִּרְעָ֔ה יְשַׁלַּ֛ח יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ בָּ֑ם עַד־אֲבֹ֗ד הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֛ים וְהַנִּסְתָּרִ֖ים מִפָּנֶֽיךָ:
21 You shall not be terrified of them, for the Lord, your God, Who is in your midst, is a great and awesome God. כאלֹ֥א תַֽעֲרֹ֖ץ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם כִּֽי־יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ֙ בְּקִרְבֶּ֔ךָ אֵ֥ל גָּד֖וֹל וְנוֹרָֽא:
22 And the Lord, your God, will drive out those nations from before you, little by little. You will not be able to destroy them quickly, lest the beasts of the field outnumber you. כבוְנָשַׁל֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ אֶת־הַגּוֹיִ֥ם הָאֵ֛ל מִפָּנֶ֖יךָ מְעַ֣ט מְעָ֑ט לֹ֤א תוּכַל֙ כַּלֹּתָ֣ם מַהֵ֔ר פֶּן־תִּרְבֶּ֥ה עָלֶ֖יךָ חַיַּ֥ת הַשָּׂדֶֽה:
23 But the Lord, your God, will deliver them to you, and He will confound them with great confusion until they are destroyed. כגוּנְתָנָ֛ם יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ לְפָנֶ֑יךָ וְהָמָם֙ מְהוּמָ֣ה גְדֹלָ֔ה עַ֖ד הִשָּֽׁמְדָֽם:
24 And He will deliver their kings into your hand, and you will destroy their name from beneath the heavens; no man will be able to stand up before you until you have destroyed them. כדוְנָתַ֤ן מַלְכֵיהֶם֙ בְּיָדֶ֔ךָ וְהַֽאֲבַדְתָּ֣ אֶת־שְׁמָ֔ם מִתַּ֖חַת הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם לֹֽא־יִתְיַצֵּ֥ב אִישׁ֙ בְּפָנֶ֔יךָ עַ֥ד הִשְׁמִֽדְךָ֖ אֹתָֽם:
25 The graven images of their gods you will burn with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is upon them and take it for yourself, lest you be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to the Lord, your God. כהפְּסִילֵ֥י אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֖ם תִּשְׂרְפ֣וּן בָּאֵ֑שׁ לֹֽא־תַחְמֹד֩ כֶּ֨סֶף וְזָהָ֤ב עֲלֵיהֶם֙ וְלָֽקַחְתָּ֣ לָ֔ךְ פֶּ֚ן תִּוָּקֵ֣שׁ בּ֔וֹ כִּ֧י תֽוֹעֲבַ֛ת יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ הֽוּא:
26 Nor should you bring an abomination into your house, lest you are to be destroyed like it, but you shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it; for it is to be destroyed. כווְלֹֽא־תָבִ֤יא תֽוֹעֵבָה֙ אֶל־בֵּיתֶ֔ךָ וְהָיִ֥יתָ חֵ֖רֶם כָּמֹ֑הוּ שַׁקֵּ֧ץ | תְּשַׁקְּצֶ֛נּוּ וְתַעֵ֥ב | תְּתַֽעֲבֶ֖נּוּ כִּי־חֵ֥רֶם הֽוּא:

Deuteronomio 7

(1) Cuando el Eterno tu Dios te haya traído a la tierra que vas a heredar y cuando hayas arrojado de ella a muchos pueblos delante de ti; los jeteos, los guergueseos, los amorreos, los cananeos, los perezeos, los heveos y los jebuseos, siete pueblos más numerosos y fuertes que tú,

(2) y cuando el Eterno tu Dios, te los haya entregado ante ti y los hayas derrotado, los destruirás totalmente. No harás pacto alguno con ellos ni les concederás gracia.

(3) Tampoco te emparenterás con ellos, no darás tu hija a un hijo de ellos, ni una hija de ellos tomarás para tu hijo,

(4) por cuanto ella apartará a tu hijo de Mí y éste servirá a otros dioses, con lo que reacaerá la cólera del Eterno sobre vosotros hasta exterminarte.

(5) Sólo así haréis: derribaréis sus altares, destruiréis sus estatuas, talaréis sus árboles sagrados y quemaréis sus imagenes con fuego,

(6) pues tú eres un pueblo santo para el Eterno tu Dios, oh Israel. El Eterno tu Dios, te ha elegido por pueblo Suyo entre los pueblos que hay sobre la faz de la tierra.

(7) El Eterno se solazó en vosotros y os escogió no porque erais más numerosos que los demás pueblos (en realidad erais el más pequeño),

(8) sino que el Eterno os amaba y porque quiso cumplir el juramento que había hecho a vuestros padres. Por eso os arrancó de la mano del faraón, rey de Egipto, redimiéndolos de la casa de la servidumbre.

(9) ten en cuenta pues, oh Israel, que sólo el Eterno, tu Dios, es Dios, un Dios fiel que guarda el Pacto; es piadoso hasta la milésima generación con quienes cumplen Sus mandamientos,

(10) y da su merecido a quienes Le aborrecen, haciendoles perecer. No demora el castigo a quienes Le odian.

(11) Consiguientemente has de cumplir las leyes, los estatutos y los preceptos que hoy te ordeno guardar.

(12) Y por consiguiente, si escucháis estos preceptos y lo guardáis, el Eterno tu Dios cuidará el Pacto y te otorgará Su merced, conforme a lo que juró a tus padres.

(13) Te amará, te bendecirá y te multiplicará. También bendecirá el fruto de tu matriz y el fruto de tu tierra, tu trigo, tu mosto, tu aceite, la cría de tus vacadas y de tus rebaños, en la tierra que a tus padres juró darte.

(14) Bendito serás más que todos los demás pueblos. No habrá en ti varón ni mujer esteríl, ni tampoco en tus animales.

(15) Y el Eterno quitará de ti toda enfermedad. No pondrá sobre ti ninguna de las malas enfermedades de Egipto sino que las pondrá sobre todos los que te aborrezcan.

(16) Destruirás a todos los pueblos que te entregue el Eterno sin que tu ojo se apiade de ellos y no caerás en la tentación de servir a sus dioses.

(17) Si dijeras en tu corazón: “Estos pueblos son muchos. ¿Cómo podré expulsarlos?”,

(18) No les temerás sino que te acordarás bien de lo que hizo el Eterno tu Dios a faraón y a todo Egipto,

(19) de las grandes pruebas que vieron tus ojos, de las señales y de los prodigios que desplegó el Eterno tu Dios para librarte, con mano fuerte y brazo extendido. Así hará el Eterno tu Dios a los pueblos que tú temés.

(20) El Eterno tu Dios les mandará hasta avispas venenosas para exterminar a los que queden y a los que se oculten ante ti.

(21) No te asustes de ellos, porque tu Dios está contigo, grande y poderoso.

(22) Y el Eterno tu Dios desbandará a esos pueblos delante de ti poco a poco. No podrás acabar con ellos rápidamente, no sea que se multipliquen ante ti las bestias salvajes.

(23) pero el Eterno tu Dios te los entregará y los sumirá en gran confución hasta que sean exterminados.

(24) Entregará a sus reyes en tu mano y harás que su nombre desaparezca de debajo del cielo. No habrá ninguno que pueda enfrentarte y los exterminarás a todos.

(25) A sus imágenes esculpidas, las quemarás por el fuego y no codiciarás la plata o el oro que puedieran tener para apropiartelos, no sea que cedas a la tentación, pues ello es abominación para el Eterno, tu Dios.

(26) Tampoco traerás ídolos a tu casa porque te harás a ti abominable. Los aborrecerás porque son abominación.
