Yeshayahu – Isaiah – Chapter 40 (1-26)

1 “Console, console My people,” says your God. אנַֽחֲמ֥וּ נַֽחֲמ֖וּ עַמִּ֑י יֹאמַ֖ר אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶֽם:
2 Speak to the heart of Jerusalem and call to her, for she has become full [from] her host, for her iniquity has been appeased, for she has taken from the hand of the Lord double for all her sins. בדַּבְּר֞וּ עַל־לֵ֚ב יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ וְקִרְא֣וּ אֵלֶ֔יהָ כִּ֚י מָֽלְאָה֙ צְבָאָ֔הּ כִּ֥י נִרְצָ֖ה עֲו‍ֹנָ֑הּ כִּ֚י לָֽקְחָה֙ מִיַּ֣ד יְהֹוָ֔ה כִּפְלַ֖יִם בְּכָל־חַטֹּאתֶֽיהָ:
3 A voice calls, “In the desert, clear the way of the Lord, straighten out in the wilderness, a highway for our God.” גק֣וֹל קוֹרֵ֔א בַּמִּדְבָּ֕ר פַּנּ֖וּ דֶּ֣רֶךְ יְהֹוָ֑ה יַשְּׁרוּ֙ בָּֽעֲרָבָ֔ה מְסִלָּ֖ה לֵֽאלֹהֵֽינוּ:
4 Every valley shall be raised, and every mountain and hill shall be lowered, and the crooked terrain shall become a plain and the close mountains a champaign. דכָּל־גֶּיא֙ יִנָּשֵׂ֔א וְכָל־הַ֥ר וְגִבְעָ֖ה יִשְׁפָּ֑לוּ וְהָיָ֚ה הֶֽעָקֹב֙ לְמִישׁ֔וֹר וְהָֽרְכָסִ֖ים לְבִקְעָֽה:
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh together shall see that the mouth of the Lord spoke. הוְנִגְלָ֖ה כְּב֣וֹד יְהֹוָ֑ה וְרָא֚וּ כָל־בָּשָׂר֙ יַחְדָּ֔ו כִּ֛י פִּ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר:
6 A voice says, “Call!” and it says, “What shall I call?” “All flesh is grass, and all its kindness is like the blossom of the field. וקוֹל אֹמֵ֣ר קְרָ֔א וְאָמַ֖ר מָ֣ה אֶקְרָ֑א כָּל־הַבָּשָׂר֙ חָצִ֔יר וְכָל־חַסְדּ֖וֹ כְּצִ֥יץ הַשָּׂדֶֽה:
7 The grass shall dry out, the blossom shall wilt, for a wind from the Lord has blown upon it; behold the people is grass. זיָבֵ֚שׁ חָצִיר֙ נָ֣בֵֽל צִ֔יץ כִּ֛י ר֥וּחַ יְהֹוָ֖ה נָ֣שְׁבָה בּ֑וֹ אָכֵ֥ן חָצִ֖יר הָעָֽם:
8 The grass shall dry out, the blossom shall wilt, but the word of our God shall last forever. חיָבֵ֥שׁ חָצִ֖יר נָ֣בֵֽל צִ֑יץ וּדְבַ֥ר אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ יָק֥וּם לְעוֹלָֽם:
9 Upon a lofty mountain ascend, O herald of Zion, raise your voice with strength, O herald of Jerusalem; raise [your voice], fear not; say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God!” טעַ֣ל הַר־גָּבֹ֚הַ עֲלִי־לָךְ֙ מְבַשֶּׂ֣רֶת צִיּ֔וֹן הָרִ֚ימִי בַכֹּ֙חַ֙ קוֹלֵ֔ךְ מְבַשֶּׂ֖רֶת יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם הָרִ֙ימִי֙ אַל־תִּירָ֔אִי אִמְרִי֙ לְעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה הִנֵּ֖ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶֽם:
10 Behold the Lord God shall come with a strong [hand], and His arm rules for Him; behold His reward is with Him, and His recompense is before Him. יהִנֵּ֨ה אֲדֹנָ֚י יֱהֹוִה֙ בְּחָזָ֣ק יָב֔וֹא וּזְרֹע֖וֹ מֹ֣שְׁלָה ל֑וֹ הִנֵּ֚ה שְׂכָרוֹ֙ אִתּ֔וֹ וּפְעֻלָּת֖וֹ לְפָנָֽיו:
11 Like a shepherd [who] tends his flock, with his arm he gathers lambs, and in his bosom he carries [them], the nursing ones he leads. יאכְּרֹעֶה֙ עֶדְר֣וֹ יִרְעֶ֔ה בִּזְרֹעוֹ֙ יְקַבֵּ֣ץ טְלָאִ֔ים וּבְחֵיק֖וֹ יִשָּׂ֑א עָל֖וֹת יְנַהֵֽל:
12 Who measured water with his gait, and measured the heavens with his span, and measured by thirds the dust of the earth, and weighed mountains with a scale and hills with a balance? יבמִֽי־מָדַ֨ד בְּשָֽׁעֳל֜וֹ מַ֗יִם וְשָׁמַ֙יִם֙ בַּזֶּ֣רֶת תִּכֵּ֔ן וְכָ֥ל בַּשָּׁלִ֖שׁ עֲפַ֣ר הָאָ֑רֶץ וְשָׁקַ֚ל בַּפֶּ֙לֶס֙ הָרִ֔ים וּגְבָע֖וֹת בְּמֹֽאזְנָֽיִם:
13 Who meted the spirit of the Lord, and His adviser who informs Him? יגמִֽי־תִכֵּ֥ן אֶת־ר֖וּחַ יְהֹוָ֑ה וְאִ֥ישׁ עֲצָת֖וֹ יֽוֹדִיעֶֽנּוּ:
14 With whom did He take counsel give him to understand, and teach him in the way of justice, and teach him knowledge, and the way of understandings did He let him know? ידאֶת־מִ֚י נוֹעַץ֙ וַיְבִינֵ֔הוּ וַֽיְלַמְּדֵ֖הוּ בְּאֹ֣רַח מִשְׁפָּ֑ט וַֽיְלַמְּדֵ֣הוּ דַ֔עַת וְדֶ֥רֶךְ תְּבוּנ֖וֹת יֽודִיעֶֽנּוּ:
15 Behold the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and like dust on a balance are they counted; behold the islands are like fine [dust] that blows away. טוהֵ֚ן גּוֹיִם֙ כְּמַ֣ר מִדְּלִ֔י וּכְשַׁ֥חַק מֹֽאזְנַ֖יִם נֶחְשָׁ֑בוּ הֵ֥ן אִיִּ֖ים כַּדַּ֥ק יִטּֽוֹל:
16 And the Lebanon-there is not enough to burn, and its beasts-there is not enough for burnt offerings. טזוּלְבָנ֕וֹן אֵ֥ין דֵּ֖י בָּעֵ֑ר וְחַ֨יָּת֔וֹ אֵ֥ין דֵּ֖י עוֹלָֽה:
17All the nations are as nought before Him; as things of nought and vanity are they regarded by Him. יזכָּל־הַגּוֹיִ֖ם כְּאַ֣יִן נֶגְדּ֑וֹ מֵאֶ֥פֶס וָתֹ֖הוּ נֶחְשְׁבוּ־לֽוֹ:
18 And to whom do you compare God, and what likeness do you arrange for Him? יחוְאֶל־מִ֖י תְּדַמְּי֣וּן אֵ֑ל וּמַה־דְּמ֖וּת תַּֽעַרְכוּ־לֽוֹ:
19 The graven image, the craftsman has melted, and the smith plates it with gold, and chains of silver he attaches. יטהַפֶּ֙סֶל֙ נָסַ֣ךְ חָרָ֔שׁ וְצֹרֵ֖ף בַּזָּהָ֣ב יְרַקְּעֶ֑נּוּ וּרְתֻקּ֥וֹת כֶּ֖סֶף צוֹרֵֽף:
20 He who is accustomed to select, chooses a tree that does not rot; he seeks for himself a skilled craftsman, to prepare a graven image, which will not move. כהַֽמְסֻכָּ֣ן תְּרוּמָ֔ה עֵ֥ץ לֹֽא־יִרְקַ֖ב יִבְחָ֑ר חָרָ֚שׁ חָכָם֙ יְבַקֶּשׁ־ל֔וֹ לְהָכִ֥ין פֶּ֖סֶל לֹ֥א יִמּֽוֹט:
21 Do you not know, have you not heard has it not been told to you from the beginning? Do you not understand the foundations of the earth? כאהֲל֚וֹא תֵֽדְעוּ֙ הֲל֣וֹא תִשְׁמָ֔עוּ הֲל֛וֹא הֻגַּ֥ד מֵרֹ֖אשׁ לָכֶ֑ם הֲלוֹא֙ הֲבִ֣ינוֹתֶ֔ם מֽוֹסְד֖וֹת הָאָֽרֶץ:
22 It is He Who sits above the circle of the earth, and whose inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heaven like a curtain, and He spread them out like a tent to dwell. כבהַיּשֵׁב֙ עַל־ח֣וּג הָאָ֔רֶץ וְיֹֽשְׁבֶ֖יהָ כַּֽחֲגָבִ֑ים הַנּוֹטֶ֚ה כַדֹּק֙ שָׁמַ֔יִם וַיִּמְתָּחֵ֥ם כָּאֹ֖הֶל לָשָֽׁבֶת:
23 Who brings princes to nought, judges of the land He made like a thing of nought. כגהַנּוֹתֵ֥ן רֽוֹזְנִ֖ים לְאָ֑יִן שֹׁ֥פְטֵי אֶ֖רֶץ כַּתֹּ֥הוּ עָשָֽׂה:
24 Even [as though] they were not planted, even [as though] they were not sown, even [as though] their trunk was not rooted in the earth; and also He blew on them, and they dried up, and a tempest shall carry them away like straw. כדאַ֣ף בַּל־נִטָּ֗עוּ אַף בַּל־זֹרָ֔עוּ אַ֛ף בַּל־שֹׁרֵ֥שׁ בָּאָ֖רֶץ גִּזְעָ֑ם וְגַם־נָשַׁ֚ף בָּהֶם֙ וַיִּבָ֔שׁוּ וּסְעָרָ֖ה כַּקַּ֥שׁ תִּשָּׂאֵֽם:
25 “Now, to whom will you compare Me that I should be equal?” says the Holy One. כהוְאֶל־מִ֥י תְדַמְּי֖וּנִי וְאֶשְׁוֶ֑ה יֹאמַ֖ר קָדֽוֹשׁ:
26 Lift up your eyes on high and see, who created these, who takes out their host by number; all of them He calls by name; because of His great might and because He is strong in power, no one is missing. כושְׂאוּ־מָר֨וֹם עֵינֵיכֶ֚ם וּרְאוּ֙ מִֽי־בָרָ֣א אֵ֔לֶּה הַמּוֹצִ֥יא בְמִסְפָּ֖ר צְבָאָ֑ם לְכֻלָּם֙ בְּשֵׁ֣ם יִקְרָ֔א מֵרֹ֚ב אוֹנִים֙ וְאַמִּ֣יץ כֹּ֔חַ אִ֖ישׁ לֹ֥א נֶעְדָּֽר:

ISAÍAS 40 (1-26)

(1) Consolad, consolad a Mi pueblo, dice vuestro Dios.

(2) hablas al corazón de Jerusalem y anunciadle que su tiempo de servicio se ha cumplido, que está pagada su culpa porque ha recibido de la mano del Eterno el doble de castigo por todos sus pecados.

(3) Una voz que clama en el desierto dice: Abrir camino al Eterno. Preparad en el desierto un camino para nuestro Dios.

(4) Cada valle será levantado, cada montaña y colina serán bajadas, lo rugoso será alisado y los lugares escarpados serán llanos.

(5) Y será revelada la gloria del Eterno y cada quien será testigo de eso porque la boca del Eterno lo ha dicho.

(6) Una voz grita: “¡Anunciad!” y dice : “¡Qué anunciaré?” Que toda carne es hierba y toda su hermosura es como la flor del campo.

(7) se seca la hierba y la flor se desvanece porque el aliento del Eterno las sopla. Verdaderamente, el pueblo es hierba.

(8) La hierba se seca, la flor se desvanece pero la palabra de nuestro Dios permanecerá para siempre”.

(9) Tú que le anuncias buenas noticias a Sión, súbete a la alta montaña. Tú que anuncias buenas noticias a Jerusalem, levanta tu voz con firmeza. Levántala no temas. Grita a las ciudades de Judá: “¡He aquí a vuestro Dios!”.  

(10)He aquí que el Señor Dios vendrá con todo Su poder y Su premio está en Él.

(11) Como pastor que apacienta su rebaño, que recoge en Su brazo a los corderillos y los lleva a en su seno conduciendo suavemente a las ovejas que amamantan.

(12) ¿Quién ha medido las aguas en el hueco de su  mano? ¿Quién tomó las dimensiones del cielo con un palmo y abarcó el polvo de la tierra en su dimensión? ¿Quién pesó las montañas con una romana y las colinas con una balanza?

(13) ¿Quién ha determinado el espíritu del Eterno, o quién el consejero que Le haya podido aconsejar?

(14) ¿De quién tomó consejo, quien Le instruyó, le aleccionó en el camino de la justicia, Le enseño el conocimiento y Le dio a conocer el camino del discernimiento?

(15) He aquí que las naciones son para Él como una gota de agua que cae en un balde y son contadas como el polvo de la balanza. He aquí que las islas Le son como una mota en el peso.

(16) Y el Líbano no da suficiente combustible, ni las bestias de allí alcanzan para holocaustos.

(17) Todas las naciones son como nada ante Él. Son consideradas por Él como cosas vacunas y vanidades.

(18) ¿A quién entonces se asemeja Dios, o con qué podré compararle?

(19) En cuanto a las imágenes esculpidas, el artífice la infunde, el orfebre la cubre con láminas de oro y el platero funde para ella cadenitas de plata.

(20) Una encina es apartada. Él escoge un árbol que no se apolille. Busca para sí un hábil artífice que le hagan una imagen que no sea movida.

(21) ¿No lo sabéis? ¿No lo escucháis? ¿No se os ha dicho desde el principio? ¿No habéis comprendido los fundamentos de la tierra?

(22) es Él quien se sienta sobre el circulo de la tierra cuyos habitantes son como langosta, extiende los cielos como una cortina y los despliega como una tienda para vivir en ella;

(23) es el que reduce a los príncipes a la nada; el que hace de los jueces de la tierra una cosa vacía.

(24) No bien son plantados, no bien son sembrados, no bien hecha raíces en la tierra, Él sopla sobre ellos, los marchita y el remolino se los lleva como hojarasca.

(25) ¿Con quién me compararéis para que Yo sea igual?, dice el Santo.

(26) levantad vuestros ojos hacia las alturas y mirad: ¿Quién ha creado esos cuerpos celestes? El que saca a su hueste por número y llama a todos por su nombre. Por la grandeza de Su poder y porque es fuerte en poder, nadie deja de presentarse.

 

Dicen los que estan en el Exilio: Abraham no nos conoce, e Israel no nos Reconoce.  Nos hemos vuelto como aquellos que no son llamados por tu Nombre. Tú, oh Eterno, eres nuestro Padre. Nuestro Redentor. / Those in exile say: Abraham did not know us, neither did Israel recognize us. We have become like those who are not called by your Name. You, O Lord, are our Father; our Redeemer

Yeshayahu – Isaiah – Chapter 63

16 For You are our father, for Abraham did not know us, neither did Israel recognize us; You, O Lord, are our father; our redeemer of old is your name. טזכִּֽי־אַתָּ֣ה אָבִ֔ינוּ כִּ֚י אַבְרָהָם֙ לֹ֣א יְדָעָ֔נוּ וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹ֣א יַכִּירָ֑נוּ אַתָּ֚ה יְהֹוָה֙ אָבִ֔ינוּ גֹּֽאֲלֵ֥נוּ מֵֽעוֹלָ֖ם שְׁמֶֽךָ:
17 Why do You lead us astray O Lord, from Your ways, You harden our heart from Your fear? Return for the sake of Your servants, the tribes of Your heritage. יזלָ֣מָּה תַתְעֵ֚נוּ יְהֹוָה֙ מִדְּרָכֶ֔יךָ תַּקְשִׁ֥יחַ לִבֵּ֖נוּ מִיִּרְאָתֶ֑ךָ שׁוּב לְמַ֣עַן עֲבָדֶ֔יךָ שִׁבְטֵ֖י נַֽחֲלָתֶֽךָ:
18 For [but] a short time Your holy people inherited; our adversaries trampled Your sanctuary. יחלַמִּצְעָ֕ר יָֽרְשׁ֖וּ עַם־קָדְשֶׁ֑ךָ צָרֵ֕ינוּ בּֽוֹסְס֖וּ מִקְדָּשֶֽׁךָ:
19 We were [like those] over whom You never ruled, over whom Your name was not called; had You rent the heavens, had You descended, mountains would have dripped from before You. יטהָיִ֗ינוּ מֵֽעוֹלָם֙ לֹֽא־מָשַׁ֣לְתָּ בָּ֔ם לֹֽא־נִקְרָ֥א שִׁמְךָ֖ עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם לוּא־קָרַ֚עְתָּ שָׁמַ֙יִם֙ יָרַ֔דְתָּ מִפָּנֶ֖יךָ הָרִ֥ים נָזֹֽלּוּ:

ISAÍAS 63 (16 – 19)

(16) Tú eres nuestro Padre, porque Abraham no nos conoce, e Israel no nos reconoce. Tú, oh Eterno, eres nuestro Padre. Nuestro Redentor, Eterno es Tu Nombre.

(17) ¿Por qué, oh Eterno, permites que nos desviemos de Tus caminos y endereces nuestro corazón del temor a Ti? Por consideración a Tus siervos, haz volver a las tribus de tu heredad.

(18) Han expulsado a Tu santo pueblo. Nuestros adversarios han pisoteado Tu santuario.

(19) Nos hemos vuelto como aquellos que no son llamados por tu Nombre. ¡oh!, si desgarraras los cielos para que pudieras bajar, para que las montañas se estremecieran ante Tu rostro!

Yirmiyahu – Jeremiah – Chapter 31

17 I have indeed heard Ephraim complaining, [saying,] “You have chastised me, and I was chastised as an ungoaded calf, O lead me back, and I will return, for You are the Lord, my God. יזשָׁמ֣וֹעַ שָׁמַ֗עְתִּי אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ מִתְנוֹדֵ֔ד יִסַּרְתַּ֙נִי֙ וָֽאִוָּסֵ֔ר כְּעֵ֖גֶל לֹ֣א לֻמָּ֑ד הֲשִׁבֵ֣נִי וְאָשׁ֔וּבָה כִּ֥י אַתָּ֖ה יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהָֽי:
18 For after my return I have completely changed my mind, and after I had been brought to know myself, I smote upon my thigh; I was ashamed, yea I stood confounded, for I bore the reproach of my youth.” יחכִּֽי־אַֽחֲרֵ֚י שׁוּבִי֙ נִחַ֔מְתִּי וְאַֽחֲרֵי֙ הִוָּ֣דְעִ֔י סָפַ֖קְתִּי עַל־יָרֵ֑ךְ בֹּשְׁתִּי וְגַם־נִכְלַ֔מְתִּי כִּ֥י נָשָׂ֖אתִי חֶרְפַּ֥ת נְעוּרָֽי:
19 “Is Ephraim a son who is dear to Me? Is he a child who is dandled? For whenever I speak of him, I still remember him: therefore, My very innards are agitated for him; I will surely have compassion on him,” says the Lord. יטהֲבֵן֩ יַקִּ֨יר לִ֜י אֶפְרַ֗יִם אִם יֶ֣לֶד שַֽׁעֲשׁוּעִ֔ים כִּֽי־מִדֵּ֚י דַבְּרִי֙ בּ֔וֹ זָכֹ֥ר אֶזְכְּרֶ֖נּוּ ע֑וֹד עַל־כֵּ֗ן הָמ֚וּ מֵעַי֙ ל֔וֹ רַחֵ֥ם אֲרַֽחֲמֶ֖נּוּ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה:

JEREMÍAS 31

He oído atentamente a Efraín que se lamentaba: “Me has castigado y fui castigado como novillo no acostumbrado al yugo. Vuélveme y me volveré a ti, porque Tú eres el Eterno mi Dios.

 Ciertamente después de volverme me arrepentí, y después de ser instruido me herí el muslo. Me avergoncé y aun quedé confuso porque llevaba el aprobio de mi juventud”.

 ¿Es Efraín para Mí un hijo querido? ¿ Es un niño mimado? Porque cuando hablo de él verdaderamente lo recuerdo y mi corazón lo ansía. De seguro tendré misericordia de él, dice el Eterno.

Bereishit – Genesis – Chapter 48

1 Now it came to pass after these incidents that [someone] said to Joseph, “Behold, your father is ill.” So he took his two sons with him, Manasseh and Ephraim. אוַיְהִ֗י אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְיוֹסֵ֔ף הִנֵּ֥ה אָבִ֖יךָ חֹלֶ֑ה וַיִּקַּ֞ח אֶת־שְׁנֵ֤י בָנָיו֙ עִמּ֔וֹ אֶת־מְנַשֶּׁ֖ה וְאֶת־אֶפְרָֽיִם:
2 And [someone] told Jacob and said, “Behold, your son Joseph is coming to you.” And Israel summoned his strength and sat up on the bed. בוַיַּגֵּ֣ד לְיַֽעֲקֹ֔ב וַיֹּ֕אמֶר הִנֵּ֛ה בִּנְךָ֥ יוֹסֵ֖ף בָּ֣א אֵלֶ֑יךָ וַיִּתְחַזֵּק֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב עַל־הַמִּטָּֽה:
3 And Jacob said to Joseph, “Almighty God appeared to me in Luz, in the land of Canaan, and He blessed me. גוַיֹּ֤אמֶר יַֽעֲקֹב֙ אֶל־יוֹסֵ֔ף אֵ֥ל שַׁדַּ֛י נִרְאָֽה־אֵלַ֥י בְּל֖וּז בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וַיְבָ֖רֶךְ אֹתִֽי:
4 And He said to me, ‘Behold, I will make you fruitful and cause you to multiply, and I will make you into a congregation of peoples, and I will give this land to your seed after you for an everlasting inheritance.’ דוַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗י הִנְנִ֤י מַפְרְךָ֙ וְהִרְבִּיתִ֔ךָ וּנְתַתִּ֖יךָ לִקְהַ֣ל עַמִּ֑ים וְנָ֨תַתִּ֜י אֶת־הָאָ֧רֶץ הַזֹּ֛את לְזַרְעֲךָ֥ אַֽחֲרֶ֖יךָ אֲחֻזַּ֥ת עוֹלָֽם:
5 And now, [as for] your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt, until I came to you, to the land of Egypt they are mine. Ephraim and Manasseh shall be mine like Reuben and Simeon. הוְעַתָּ֡ה שְׁנֵֽי־בָנֶ֩יךָ֩ הַנּֽוֹלָדִ֨ים לְךָ֜ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֗יִם עַד־בֹּאִ֥י אֵלֶ֛יךָ מִצְרַ֖יְמָה לִי־הֵ֑ם אֶפְרַ֨יִם֙ וּמְנַשֶּׁ֔ה כִּרְאוּבֵ֥ן וְשִׁמְע֖וֹן יִֽהְיוּ־לִֽי:
6 But your children, if you beget [any] after them, shall be yours; by their brothers’ names they shall be called in their inheritance. ווּמֽוֹלַדְתְּךָ֛ אֲשֶׁר־הוֹלַ֥דְתָּ אַֽחֲרֵיהֶ֖ם לְךָ֣ יִֽהְי֑וּ עַ֣ל שֵׁ֧ם אֲחֵיהֶ֛ם יִקָּֽרְא֖וּ בְּנַֽחֲלָתָֽם:
7 As for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died to me in the land of Canaan on the way, when there was still a stretch of land to come to Ephrath, and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.” זוַֽאֲנִ֣י | בְּבֹאִ֣י מִפַּדָּ֗ן מֵ֩תָה֩ עָלַ֨י רָחֵ֜ל בְּאֶ֤רֶץ כְּנַ֨עַן֙ בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ בְּע֥וֹד כִּבְרַת־אֶ֖רֶץ לָבֹ֣א אֶפְרָ֑תָה וָֽאֶקְבְּרֶ֤הָ שָּׁם֙ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ אֶפְרָ֔ת הִ֖וא בֵּ֥ית לָֽחֶם:
8 Then Israel saw Joseph’s sons, and he said, “Who are these?” חוַיַּ֥רְא יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֶת־בְּנֵ֣י יוֹסֵ֑ף וַיֹּ֖אמֶר מִי־אֵֽלֶּה:
9 Joseph said to his father, “They are my sons, whom God gave me here.” So he said, “Now bring them near to me, so that I may bless them.” טוַיֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ אֶל־אָבִ֔יו בָּנַ֣י הֵ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־נָֽתַן־לִ֥י אֱלֹהִ֖ים בָּזֶ֑ה וַיֹּאמַ֕ר קָֽחֶם־נָ֥א אֵלַ֖י וַֽאֲבָֽרֲכֵֽם:
10 Now Israel’s eyes had become heavy with age, [to the extent that] he could not see. So he drew them near to him, and he kissed them and embraced them. יוְעֵינֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ כָּֽבְד֣וּ מִזֹּ֔קֶן לֹ֥א יוּכַ֖ל לִרְא֑וֹת וַיַּגֵּ֤שׁ אֹתָם֙ אֵלָ֔יו וַיִּשַּׁ֥ק לָהֶ֖ם וַיְחַבֵּ֥ק לָהֶֽם:
11 And Israel said to Joseph, “I had not expected to see [even] your face, and behold, God has shown me your children too.” יאוַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶל־יוֹסֵ֔ף רְאֹ֥ה פָנֶ֖יךָ לֹ֣א פִלָּ֑לְתִּי וְהִנֵּ֨ה הֶרְאָ֥ה אֹתִ֛י אֱלֹהִ֖ים גַּ֥ם אֶת־זַרְעֶֽךָ:
12 And Joseph took them out from upon his [Jacob’s] knees, and he prostrated himself to the ground. יבוַיּוֹצֵ֥א יוֹסֵ֛ף אֹתָ֖ם מֵעִ֣ם בִּרְכָּ֑יו וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ לְאַפָּ֖יו אָֽרְצָה:
13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim at his right, from Israel’s left, and Manasseh at his left, from Israel’s right, and he brought [them] near to him. יגוַיִּקַּ֣ח יוֹסֵף֘ אֶת־שְׁנֵיהֶם֒ אֶת־אֶפְרַ֤יִם בִּֽימִינוֹ֙ מִשְּׂמֹ֣אל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאֶת־מְנַשֶּׁ֥ה בִשְׂמֹאל֖וֹ מִימִ֣ין יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּגֵּ֖שׁ אֵלָֽיו:
14 But Israel stretched out his right hand and placed [it] on Ephraim’s head, although he was the younger, and his left hand [he placed] on Manasseh’s head. He guided his hands deliberately, for Manasseh was the firstborn. ידוַיִּשְׁלַח֩ יִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל אֶת־יְמִינ֜וֹ וַיָּ֨שֶׁת עַל־רֹ֤אשׁ אֶפְרַ֨יִם֙ וְה֣וּא הַצָּעִ֔יר וְאֶת־שְׂמֹאל֖וֹ עַל־רֹ֣אשׁ מְנַשֶּׁ֑ה שִׂכֵּל֙ אֶת־יָדָ֔יו כִּ֥י מְנַשֶּׁ֖ה הַבְּכֽוֹר:
15 And he blessed Joseph and said, “God, before Whom my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, walked, God Who sustained me as long as I am alive, until this day, טווַיְבָ֥רֶךְ אֶת־יוֹסֵ֖ף וַיֹּאמַ֑ר הָֽאֱלֹהִ֡ים אֲשֶׁר֩ הִתְהַלְּכ֨וּ אֲבֹתַ֤י לְפָנָיו֙ אַבְרָהָ֣ם וְיִצְחָ֔ק הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ הָֽרֹעֶ֣ה אֹתִ֔י מֵֽעוֹדִ֖י עַד־הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה:
16 may the angel who redeemed me from all harm bless the youths, and may they be called by my name and the name of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, and may they multiply abundantly like fish, in the midst of the land.” טזהַמַּלְאָךְ֩ הַגֹּאֵ֨ל אֹתִ֜י מִכָּל־רָ֗ע יְבָרֵךְ֘ אֶת־הַנְּעָרִים֒ וְיִקָּרֵ֤א בָהֶם֙ שְׁמִ֔י וְשֵׁ֥ם אֲבֹתַ֖י אַבְרָהָ֣ם וְיִצְחָ֑ק וְיִדְגּ֥וּ לָרֹ֖ב בְּקֶ֥רֶב הָאָֽרֶץ:
17 And Joseph saw that his father was placing his right hand on Ephraim’s head, and it displeased him. So he held up his father’s hand to remove it from upon Ephraim’s head [to place it] on Manasseh’s head. יזוַיַּ֣רְא יוֹסֵ֗ף כִּֽי־יָשִׁ֨ית אָבִ֧יו יַד־יְמִינ֛וֹ עַל־רֹ֥אשׁ אֶפְרַ֖יִם וַיֵּ֣רַע בְּעֵינָ֑יו וַיִּתְמֹ֣ךְ יַד־אָבִ֗יו לְהָסִ֥יר אֹתָ֛הּ מֵעַ֥ל רֹֽאשׁ־אֶפְרַ֖יִם עַל־רֹ֥אשׁ מְנַשֶּֽׁה:
18 And Joseph said to his father, “Not so, Father, for this one is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head.” יחוַיֹּ֧אמֶר יוֹסֵ֛ף אֶל־אָבִ֖יו לֹא־כֵ֣ן אָבִ֑י כִּי־זֶ֣ה הַבְּכֹ֔ר שִׂ֥ים יְמִֽינְךָ֖ עַל־רֹאשֽׁוֹ:
19 But his father refused, and he said, “I know, my son, I know; he too will become a people, and he too will be great. But his younger brother will be greater than he, and his children[‘s fame] will fill the nations.” יטוַיְמָאֵ֣ן אָבִ֗יו וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ יָדַ֤עְתִּי בְנִי֙ יָדַ֔עְתִּי גַּם־ה֥וּא יִֽהְיֶה־לְעָ֖ם וְגַם־ה֣וּא יִגְדָּ֑ל וְאוּלָ֗ם אָחִ֤יו הַקָּטֹן֙ יִגְדַּ֣ל מִמֶּ֔נּוּ וְזַרְע֖וֹ יִֽהְיֶ֥ה מְלֹֽא־הַגּוֹיִֽם:
20 So he blessed them on that day, saying, “With you, Israel will bless, saying, ‘May God make you like Ephraim and like Manasseh,’ ” and he placed Ephraim before Manasseh. כוַיְבָ֨רֲכֵ֜ם בַּיּ֣וֹם הַהוּא֘ לֵאמוֹר֒ בְּךָ֗ יְבָרֵ֤ךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר יְשִֽׂמְךָ֣ אֱלֹהִ֔ים כְּאֶפְרַ֖יִם וְכִמְנַשֶּׁ֑ה וַיָּ֥שֶׂם אֶת־אֶפְרַ֖יִם לִפְנֵ֥י מְנַשֶּֽׁה:
21 And Israel said to Joseph, “Behold, I am going to die, and God will be with you, and He will return you to the land of your forefathers. כאוַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶל־יוֹסֵ֔ף הִנֵּ֥ה אָֽנֹכִ֖י מֵ֑ת וְהָיָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ עִמָּכֶ֔ם וְהֵשִׁ֣יב אֶתְכֶ֔ם אֶל־אֶ֖רֶץ אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶֽם:
22 And I have given you one portion over your brothers, which I took from the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.” כבוַֽאֲנִ֞י נָתַ֧תִּי לְךָ֛ שְׁכֶ֥ם אַחַ֖ד עַל־אַחֶ֑יךָ אֲשֶׁ֤ר לָקַ֨חְתִּי֙ מִיַּ֣ד הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י בְּחַרְבִּ֖י וּבְקַשְׁתִּֽי:

GÉNESIS 48

(1) Y ocurrió después de tales sucesos que le dijeron a José: “He aquí tu padre está enfermo”. Entonces trajo con él a sus dos hijos, Manasés y Efraín.

(2) Y le anunciaron a Jacob: “He aquí que tu hijo vienen hacia ti”. Se esforzó Israel y se sentó en la cama.

(3) Y le dijo Jacob a José: “Dios Todopoderoso se me apareció en Luz, en la tierra de Canaán y me bendijo.

(4) Y me declaró: “He aquí que te fructificaré, te multiplicaré y haré de ti una gran congregación de pueblos y daré esta tierra a tu simiente después de ti por posesión eterna.

(5) Y ahora tus dos hijos que te nacieron en la tierra de Egipto antes de que yo viniera a ti en Egipto son míos. Como Rubén y Simeón, Efraín y Manases serán míos.

(6) Y los hijos que tuvieras después de ellos serán tuyos, y serán llamados por el nombre de sus hermanos en su heredad.

(7) Y en cuanto a mí, cuando vine de Param-aram, Raquel murió a mi lado en el camino, en al tierra de Canaán, cuando todavía faltaba un buen trecho para llegar a Efrat, y la sepulté allí, en el camino a Efrat. El lugar se llama Belén”.

(8) En eso, Israel vio a los hijos de José y le preguntó: “¿Quiénes son?”.

(9) Y le respondió José: “Son mis hijos, que Dios me dio en esta tierra” y le contestó su padre: “Traemelos, por favor, que yo los bendiga”.

(10) A la sazón, los ojos de Israel estaban obscurecidos por la vejez de modo que no podía ver. Y los hizo acercarse junto a él, los besó y los abrazó.

(11) Y le dijo Israel a José: “Ya no pensaba ver tu rostro y he aquí que Dios me muestra también tu simiente”.

(12) Y José apartó a sus hijos de entre las rodillas de su padre y se postergó ante él rostro a tierra.

(13) Y tomó a sus dos hijos, Efraín con su mano derecha hacia la izquierda de Israel, y Manasés con su mano izquierda hacía la derecha de Israel, y los aproximó nuevamente hacia él.

(14) He Israel extendió su mano derecha y la colocó sobre la cabeza de Mansés deliberadamente porque este último era primogénito.

(15) Y bendijo a José y dijo:

“Que Dios, ante quien anduvieron mis padres Abraham e Isaac, el Dios que me sustentó desde que nací hasta hoy,

(16) el Ángel que me libro de todo mal, bendiga a los muchachos y que sean ellos llamados con el monbre mío y los de mis padres Abraham e Isaac, que se incrementen como los peces en medio de la tierra”.

(17) pero José vio con desagrado que su padre pusiera la mano derecha sobre la cabeza de Efraín, y tomó la mano de su padre par quitarla de sobre la cabeza de efraín y ponerla en la de Manasés,

(18) mientras le decía a su padre: “No es así padre mío, porque el primogénito es éste. Pon tu mano derecha sobre su cabeza”,

(19) pero su padre se nego, diciendo: “Lo sé, hijo mío, lo sé, pero él también se convertirá en un gran pueblo, mientras que su hermano se engrandecerá más que él y su simientre será multitud de pueblos”.

(20) Y los bendijo ese día diciendo: “En ti será bendecido Israel, y se dirá:

“Que te haga Dios como Efraín y a Manases”, y puso a Efraín delante de Manasés.

(21) Y le dijo Isarel a José: “He aquí que muero, pero Dios será con vosotros y os volverá a la tierra de vuestros padres.

(22) Además, te doy una porción más que a tus hermanos, la que tomé de mano de los amorreos con mi espada y con mi arco”.

Amos – Chapter 9

8 Behold the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from upon the face of the earth; but I will not destroy the house of Jacob, says the Lord. חהִנֵּ֞ה עֵינֵ֣י | אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֗ה בַּמַּמְלָכָה֙ הַֽחַטָּאָ֔ה וְהִשְׁמַדְתִּ֣י אֹתָ֔הּ מֵעַ֖ל פְּנֵ֣י הָֽאֲדָמָ֑ה אֶ֗פֶס כִּ֠י לֹ֣א הַשְׁמֵ֥יד אַשְׁמִ֛יד אֶת־בֵּ֥ית יַֽעֲקֹ֖ב נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה:
9 For, behold I command, and I will scatter the house of Israel among all the nations; as it is shaken in a sieve, and not a coarse particle falls to the earth. טכִּֽי־הִנֵּ֚ה אָֽנֹכִי֙ מְצַוֶּ֔ה וַֽהֲנִע֥וֹתִי בְכָל־הַגּוֹיִ֖ם אֶת־בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֚ר יִנּ֙וֹעַ֙ בַּכְּבָרָ֔ה וְלֹֽא־יִפּ֥וֹל צְר֖וֹר אָֽרֶץ:
10 By the sword shall all the sinful of My people perish, those who say, “The evil shall not soon come upon us. “ יבַּחֶ֣רֶב יָמ֔וּתוּ כֹּ֖ל חַטָּאֵ֣י עַמִּ֑י הָאֹֽמְרִ֗ים לֹֽא־תַגִּ֧ישׁ וְתַקְדִּ֛ים בַּֽעֲדֵ֖ינוּ הָֽרָעָֽה:
11 On that day, I will raise up the fallen Tabernacle of David, and I will close up their breaches, and I will raise up its ruins, and build it up as in the days of yore. יאבַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא אָקִ֛ים אֶת־סֻכַּ֥ת דָּוִ֖יד הַנֹּפֶ֑לֶת וְגָֽדַרְתִּ֣י אֶת־פִּרְצֵיהֶ֗ן וַֽהֲרִֽסֹתָיו֙ אָקִ֔ים וּבְנִיתִ֖יהָ כִּימֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם:
12 In order that they inherit the remnant of Edom and all the nations because My Name is called upon them, says the Lord Who does this. יבלְמַ֨עַן יִֽירְשׁ֜וּ אֶת־שְׁאֵרִ֚ית אֱדוֹם֙ וְכָל־הַגּוֹיִ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־נִקְרָ֥א שְׁמִ֖י עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֖ה עֹ֥שֶׂה זֹּֽאת:
13 Behold days are coming, says the Lord, that the plowman shall meet the reaper and the treader of the grapes the one who carries the seed, and the mountains shall drip sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt. יגהִנֵּ֨ה יָמִ֚ים בָּאִים֙ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֔ה וְנִגַּ֚שׁ חוֹרֵשׁ֙ בַּקֹּצֵ֔ר וְדֹרֵ֥ךְ עֲנָבִ֖ים בְּמֹשֵׁ֣ךְ הַזָּ֑רַע וְהִטִּ֚יפוּ הֶֽהָרִים֙ עָסִ֔יס וְכָל־הַגְּבָע֖וֹת תִּתְמוֹגַֽגְנָה:
14 And I will return the captivity of My people Israel, and they shall rebuild desolate cities and inhabit [them], and they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and they shall make gardens and eat their produce. ידוְשַׁבְתִּי֘ אֶת־שְׁב֣וּת עַמִּ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וּבָנ֞וּ עָרִ֚ים נְשַׁמּוֹת֙ וְיָשָׁ֔בוּ וְנָֽטְע֣וּ כְרָמִ֔ים וְשָׁת֖וּ אֶת־יֵינָ֑ם וְעָשׂ֣וּ גַנּ֔וֹת וְאָֽכְל֖וּ אֶת־פְּרִיהֶֽם:
15 And I will plant them on their land, and they shall no longer be uprooted from upon their land, that I have given them, said the Lord your God. טווּנְטַעְתִּ֖ים עַל־אַדְמָתָ֑ם וְלֹ֨א יִנָּֽתְשׁ֜וּ ע֗וֹד מֵעַ֚ל אַדְמָתָם֙ אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֣תִּי לָהֶ֔ם אָמַ֖ר יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ:

AMÓS 9 (8 – 15)

(8) He aquí que los ojos de Dios, el Eterno están sobre el reino pecador; los destruiré haciéndoles desaparecer de la faz de la tierra pero no destruiré del todo a la casa de Jacob, dice el Eterno.

(9) Porque he aquí que voy a ordenar que sea zarandeada la casa de Israel entre todas las naciones como se zarandea el trigo en un harnero para que ningún grano caiga sobre la tierra.

(10) Y morirán todos los pecadores de Mi pueblo por la espada, ellos que dicen: “El mal no caerá sobre nosotros ni nos alcanzará”.

(11) En aquel día, levantaré el Tabernáculo de David caído, cerraré sus brechas, levantaré sus ruinas y los volveré a construir como en los días antiguos,

(12) para que puedan poseer el resto de Edom y a todas las naciones que invocan Mi Nombre, dice el Eterno al origen de eso.

(13) He aquí que vendrán días dice el Eterno, en que el que ara seguirá al que siembra y el que cosecha al que ara. Las montañas destilarán mosto y todas las colinas se derretirán en leche.

(14) Haré tornar el cautiverio de Mi pueblo Israel, reconstruirán las ciudades asoladas y las habitarán. Plantarán viñedos y beberán su vino. Cultivarán también huertos y comerán sus frutos.

(15) Yo plantaré en su propio suelo y no serán más arrancados de la tierra que les dí, dice el Eterno su Dios.

Tehillim – Psalms – Chapter 126

1 A song of ascents. When the Lord returns the returnees to Zion, we shall be like dreamers. אשִׁ֗יר הַֽמַּֽ֫עֲל֥וֹת בְּשׁ֣וּב יְ֖הֹוָה אֶת־שִׁיבַ֣ת צִיּ֑וֹן הָ֜יִ֗ינוּ כְּחֹֽלְמִֽים:
2 Then our mouths will be filled with laughter and our tongues with songs of praise; then they will say among the nations, “The Lord has done great things with these.” באָ֚ז יִמָּלֵ֪א שְׂחֹ֡ק פִּינוּ֘ וּלְשׁוֹנֵ֪נוּ רִ֫נָּ֥ה אָ֖ז יֹֽאמְר֣וּ בַגּוֹיִ֑ם הִגְדִּ֥יל יְ֜הֹוָ֗ה לַֽעֲשׂ֥וֹת עִם־אֵֽלֶּה:
3 “The Lord has done great things with us; we were happy.” גהִגְדִּ֣יל יְ֖הֹוָה לַֽעֲשׂ֣וֹת עִמָּ֑נוּ הָ֜יִ֗ינוּ שְׂמֵחִֽים:
4 Return, O Lord, our captivity like rivulets in arid land. דשׁוּבָ֣ה יְ֖הֹוָה אֶת־שְׁבִיתֵ֑נוּ (כתיב שְׁבִותֵ֑נוּ) כַּֽאֲפִיקִ֥ים בַּנֶּֽגֶב:
5 Those who sow with tears will reap with song. ההַזֹּֽרְעִ֥ים בְּדִמְעָ֗ה בְּרִנָּ֥ה יִקְצֹֽרוּ:
6 He will go along weeping, carrying the valuable seeds; he will come back with song, carrying his sheaves. והָ֘ל֚וֹךְ יֵלֵ֨ךְ | וּבָכֹה֘ נֹשֵׂ֪א מֶֽשֶׁךְ־הַ֫זָּ֥רַע בֹּֽא־יָבֹ֥א בְרִנָּ֑ה נֹ֜שֵׂ֗א אֲלֻמֹּתָֽיו:

LOS SALMOS 126

(1) Cántico de las ascensiones. Cuando trajo el Eterno a los que vovieron a Sión, éramos como gente que sueña.

(2) Y se llenó nuestra boca con risas, y nuestra lengua con cántico. Y dijeron entre las naciones:

“El Eterno ha hecho grandes cosas con ellos”.

(3) Sí, grandes cosas ha hecho el Eterno por nosotros. (Por eso) nos alegramos.

(4) Vuélvenos de nuestro cautiverio, oh Eterno, como las corrientes en al tierra seca.

(5) Los que siembran con lágrimas, cosecharán con alegría.

(6) Aunque siga su camino llorando el que lleva la simiente para sembrar regresará con regocijo trayendo sus gavillas.
